Hello

I started Seniors "R" Us officially in March of 2021, after over twenty years of helping seniors.  Ever since I was a little girl, I helped seniors in my neighborhood. Whether it was store runs, helping with laundry or just to sit and listen, I've always valued the senior citizens in my neighborhood and in my life.  Fast forward to the beginning of the technological age, I was always the go to person for television and vcr hook-ups, stereo and surround sound connections or if there was a problem with the cable box. (lol) Now forward to the ever-changing digital age, I started downloading music onto mp3 players (such as an ipod) for my grandmother and all her friends, as well as teaching them how to download the music for themselves.  Now with mostly all devices such as cell phones, laptops, tablets, cameras and t.v's being "smart", I thought that if my grandparents are having issues other seniors maybe as well. During the pandemic I saw that senior citizens really suffered by being the vulnerable population. They weren't able to visit family nor have family visit them but if they were more versed with technology, they would have been able to take advantage of many apps like zoom, microsoft teams, face- time and other apps to see their families virtually.  Thus, Seniors R Us was officially born! I now was able to alleviate this issue by helping seniors stay connected to their families, make vaccination appointments while teaching them how to navigate their devices better. A similar complaint I've gotten from most of my seniors is that their families do not have time to help them or get frustrated with them for not understanding. They feel over-looked and often forgotten. Here at Seniors R Us I make sure every senior is heard and all of their questions are answered, where they understand and write down the steps so when they're home they can go over what they've learned.  I'm so proud of the work that we do here at Seniors "R" Us, and I'm ecstatic that I can do what I love on a daily basis.
